THE BOOK OF CLARENCE

The Book of Clarence: Film Review – Loud And Clear Reviews
Film Review: The Book of Clarence delivers a fascinating story where biblical, epic tones are mixed with humour and satire.
loudandclearreviews.com

The director of The Harder They Fall is back with a new feature from Sony and Legendary. The Book of Clarence, which was supposed to hit theaters in October 2023 and has been postponed to January 2024 according to Screen International, is a biblical story, just like its title suggests. Starring LaKeith Stanfield, Omar Sy, Benedict Cumberbatch, RJ Cyler, David Oyelowo, Anna Diop and James McAvoy, it’s about a Jerusalem man who tries to use the advent of the Messiah for his own gain but ends up learning about faith instead.

INSHALLAH A BOY

Director: Amjad Al Rasheed
U.S. Release: January 12
U.K. Release: TBA

Inshallah A Boy: Cannes Film Review – Loud And Clear Reviews
Film Review: Inshallah A Boy plays out like a claustrophobic tragedy, made all the more relevant by the very real issues it explores.
loudandclearreviews.com

The first Jordanian film to ever premiere in Cannes is finally coming to theaters in 2024, and you don’t want to miss it. There aren’t many films that can portray complex issues without judging any of the characters, and Inshallah A Boy (Inchallah un Fils) does just that. At the same time, it also raises awareness of a situation that will be unfamiliar to many audiences, in the most effective way possible. The film tells the story of a woman in her thirties (Mouna Hawa’s Nawal) who one day wakes up and finds her husband dead. Which, since she lives in Jordan, means that she will have to fight to keep everything she holds dear, from her house to custody of her daughter, since she is now a widow with no sons, and, to quote a character, “this is how things work”, in Jordan. Not to be missed.

Jeff Nichols’ highly anticipated The Bikeriders was supposed to come out in December 2023, but it was postponed to June 21, 2024 – which is a shame, as it’s a fantastic film. Mike Faist plays Danny Lyon, who interviews members of the group known as the Vandals – mainly, their leader Johnny (Tom Hardy) and the charming Benny (Austin Butler). The director of Rain Man is back with a crime drama starring genre pro Robert De Niro as not one, but two leading characters. In Wise Guys, De Niro plays both Vito Genovese and Frank Costello, two Italian Americans who run separate crime families and have a complicated history of betrayals and assassination attempts. One of them retired from the mafia, which makes the movie even more exciting. Also starring Debra Messing.
