Based on a true story, The Witness is a three-part British drama series that takes viewers back to 1992 England, when a 23-year-old mother was brutally stabbed to death on Wimbledon Common in London. The crime was committed in broad daylight as she walked her dog with her 2-year-old son, who was the only witness to the murder. The case garnered widespread media coverage, as did the miscarriage of justice that surrounded it. During the investigation, the police narrowed their suspicions down to an innocent man, who was spied on during an undercover operation to squeeze a confession out of him. The series is told through the eyes of the victim’s partner André Hanscombe, played by Jordan Bolger (Peaky Blinders).

The story follows happily married couple Tom and Anna Bowden (Patrick Wilson and Amy Adams, respectively) as they navigate the monstrous storm sneaking up on them that is Max Cady (Javier Bardem). The Bowden were responsible for putting Cady behind bars 17 years prior. After being released from prison, he uses his knowledge of the law to evade punishment and embark on a reign of terror against the Bowdens. Trust me, you won’t want to miss out on this experience.
