Everything We Know About The Bear Season 3

Jeremy White Allen and Ayo Edebiri on the set of The Bear Season 3, from an article with everything we know about the series

Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edibiri return in Season 3 of The Bear in June. Here’s everything we know about the upcoming season!

In 2022, The Bear premiered and instantly received high praise. The show about a man who fights to change his Chicago family-owned restaurant into a respectable dining locale balances dark comedy and intense drama, making it a popular but highly original series.

Following its massive success in Seasons 1 and 2, the six-time Emmy award winning show returns this summer with its highly anticipated third season. The Season 3 premiere is only a month away, and here is everything we know about it!

Everything we know about the plot of The Bear Season 3

While little is known about Season 3’s plot, audiences have been left with plenty of cliffhangers and curiosities. Will “The Bear” stay open as a high-class dining experience? What about Carmy’s (Jeremy Allen White, The Iron Claw) relationships with Sydney (Ayo Edibiri, Bottoms) and Claire (Molly Gordon)? It wouldn’t be unrealistic to expect other characters’ subplots to be explored, as Marcus’s (Lionel Boyce) was in Season 2.

White has confirmed there will be more cooking footage in Season 3. The latest season was a departure from the frantic cooking environment of Season 1, as most of Season 2 was devoted to closing “The Original Beef of Chicagoland” and opening the new-and-improved restaurant under the name, “The Bear.” But in this third season, White expects they’ll be turning up the heat and shouting “Hands!” much more.

White also told Variety that Carmy will go through stages of grief and loss: “He extended himself, he f*cked everything up by extending himself, and he can’t do it again. That’s where he’s at.” One of the major themes of The Bear is Carmy’s mental health and family experiences. From his (not yet fully explained) rise and fall from a top restaurant in New York, to the loss of a loved one that simultaneously haunts and motivates his career, Carmy has much to process. Season 3 will deal with the impact of the stressful Season 2 finale, and likely reveal more about Carmy’s recent past.

When will The Bear Season 3 be released?

All episodes of The Bear Season 3 will be released on June 27, 2024 at once. FX released a teaser for the new season as well.

Will there be a fourth season of The Bear?

The Bear Seasons 3 and 4 have been written for some time now, and they were filmed back-to-back. While FX has not confirmed renewal for Season 4, it is expected that they will do so following the massive awards success of Season 2 and the buzz Season 3 has gotten ahead of its release.

Why we should be looking forward to The Bear Season 3

Many shows struggle to get off the ground at first, but The Bear surged ahead and even got better in its second season. With so many questions from Seasons 1 and 2 left unanswered, we can look forward to some big plot reveals in Season 3.

Season 2 of The Bear is quite different from Season 1: we got deep glimpses into supporting characters’ lives, saw Sydney trying to make her own way in the restaurant world, and we were gifted with one of the most ambitious and intense episodes of TV with “Fishes.” While maintaining coherence with previous seasons, we can look forward to the ways in which Season 3 will continue to push the boundaries of TV, drama, and comedy.

Ayo Edebiri is set to make her directorial debut in Season 3. Fans are excited to see what she brings to the table as she directs multiple episodes.

Who else is in The Bear Season 3?

Aside from a strong main cast consisting of White, Edebiri, Boyce, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, people are expecting the return of surprising favorites in Season 3. Abby Elliot will return as Natalie “Sugar” Berzatto, Matty Matheson as Neil Fak, and Liza Colón-Zayas as Tina.

White said he’d like to have another episode with plenty of surprising cameos, like in Season 2’s “Fishes” episode. Coach K, former head coach of Duke University’s basketball team, expressed desire to make an appearance which would contribute to Sydney’s narrative involving the book of his that she reads. Will Poulter was spotted on set and will reportedly return in this season; his role will likely continue the subplot involving Marcus.

While not confirmed, White listed some of the people he would like to see in upcoming seasons, which included the return of Olivia Colman as Chef Terry, and cameos from John Turturro and Sam Rockwell.

Where will The Bear Season 3 be available to stream?

The Bear is produced by FX and will be available to stream on Hulu and Disney+. All episodes will be released at once.
