The Anime Genre

The anime genre combines many subgenres, from popular Shonen and Shoujo works like One Piece and Sailor Moon to films and series that focus on worldbuilding and escapism (“Isekai”) like Sword Art Online. Some (“Kodomomuke”) are made specifically for kids, others have an adult audience in mind.

There are so many popular anime shows and movies, from the beloved Bleach (and its continuation, Thousand Tear Blood War) to newer releases like Bocchi the Rock!. And then, of course, there’s Hayao Miyazaki’s Studio Ghibli.
