Guy Ritchie is set to return next year with the action thriller In the Grey. Here’s everything we know about the movie so far.
Known for his full-throttle action comedies with all-star casts, Guy Ritchie is a busy boy these days. In 2023 we were treated to two new films from the British director, followed this year by The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare and a TV adaptation of his own 2019 film The Gentlemen. Everything we know about the plot of In the Grey
Plot details have been carefully guarded, with the film described as following “a group who operates in the middle of criminality and the law” and involving a mission to recover some money stolen by a criminal gang. There’s also talk of the project having something in common with Sylvester Stallone’s The Expendables.
Henry Cavill and Eiza González reunite with Guy Ritchie
Two stars of Ritchie’s most recent film, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, will reunite with the director for In the Grey. Henry Cavill, who also worked with Ritchie on The Man from U.N.C.L.E., and Eiza González are both confirmed to appear. González is currently working on another project with the filmmaker, Fountain of Youth (we told you he was busy).
Who else will star in In the Grey?
Also appearing in the film is Jake Gyllenhaal, who has had quite the run of hell-for-leather action blockbusters of late. He starred alongside González in Michael Bay’s Ambulance in 2022, followed by Ritchie’s 2023 film The Covenant and the recent Road House remake. It is also reported that Rosamund Pike (Saltburn) and Jason Wong, another regular Ritchie collaborator, have been cast, as have Carlos Bardem and Fisher Stevens.

As well as serving as the film’s writer and director, Ritchie is producing In the Grey alongside Ivan Atkinson and John Friedberg.
Where was the new Guy Ritchie film shot?
Having been granted an interim agreement allowing its cast to work during the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike, In the Grey filmed in Tenerife between September and October last year.
When and where will In the Grey be released?
In the Grey is set to be released in the United States on January 17, 2025. With Lionsgate as its distributor in that country, it may appear on Amazon Prime Video after a theatrical release, like several of Ritchie’s most recent films. The film’s production company Black Bear Pictures will distribute directly in the UK and Ireland, with Elevation Pictures distributing the film in Canada, though no date outside of the US has been mentioned.
