It doesn’t take long to recognize the inspiration behind the iconic M4A1-S Emphorosaur-S, which was made with the exact pattern and colors as the Ford Explorers from the first Jurassic Park movie. Steven Spielberg’s 1993 classic takes place on an island, where paleontologists Alan Grant (Sam Neill) and Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern), and mathematician Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) find themselves after being chosen to visit the first ever theme park populated by dinosaurs. While the owner of the park, billionaire John Hammond (Richard Attenborough), seems convinced that everyone will be safe, our heroes disagree. Soon, they’ll find themselves in real danger, having to fight for their survival.

The Ford Explorer is one of the most recognizable props from the film, as it’s often the only anchor for our team, providing them with safety when they need it the most. The CS2 skin, whose magazine even features the number 94 in yellow graphics as a nod to the film, can be just as reliable while also making you visible in the best possible way. And yet, despite its vibrant color combination, it’s also a very realistic skin. Fun fact: the M4A1-S Emphorosaur-S is a silent skin, just like Alan, Ellie and Ian had to be when surrounded by dinosaurs.

The AK-47 | Bloodsport / A still from Akira (Steam / Toho)

Let’s move to the world of animation with one of the most famous anime films of all time. Cult Japanese classic Akira (1988) takes place thirty-one years after the government has dropped an atomic bomb on Tokyo. The protagonist is biker Kaneda (Mitsuo Iwata), who’s on a mission to save a friend (Nozomu Sasaki’s Tetsuo) from being used in a secret goveronment projects that ends up giving the latter special powers.

The AK-47 | Bloodsport takes inspiration from Kaneda’s red motorcycle and also serves as a tribute to Japan: it has Japanese kanji and katakana characters on it, combined with racing sponsor logos that give it a very specific, tech-wear vibe. It’s a highly popular skin because it’s so unique and fun, mirroring Kaneda’s rebellious energy. On top of this, it remains bright and vibrant even when battle-scarred. If a cyberpunk, “Neo-Tokyo” look is what you’re after, this is the skin for you!

The M4A4 | Neo-Noir skin on the on a still from the movie Sin City
The M4A4 | Neo-Noir / A still from Sin City (Steam / Dimension Films)

The Neo-Noir is an unmistakable nod to Sin City – not just the 2005 movie from Robert Rodriguez, Frank Miller and Quentin Tarantino but also Miller’s graphic novel of the same name. Just like the comic books, the film tells several stories involving a salesman grappling with co-dependency (Josh Hartnett), a policeman (Bruce Willis) investigating a case, a vigilante (Mickey Rourke) looking for his lost love, and an ex-prostitute (Brittany Murphy) escaping from her ex-pimp (Benicio del Toro) with a new romantic interest (Clive Owen).

But Sin City is not just memorable because of the plot. The novels helped define neo-noir as a genre with the high contrast black-and-white with splashes of color, combined with exaggerated, unrealistic compositions and strategically placed stylistic details, that we’ve come to associate with it. It’s the visual style that reminds us of Miller’s iconic work and the movie that inspired it, and the Neo-Noir reflects that perfectly, with a bland of iconic black and white symbolism and bursts of color that give it personality. At the center is a “femme fatale”-reminiscent woman with a cigarette that’s staring at you right in the eye, surrounded by an urban setting. The Neo-Noir is part of a set, and could be the start of an entire “noir” inventory.

4. MAC-10 | Ensnared

Alien (1979)

  • Creator: Toisac
  • Collection: The Dreams & Nightmares Collection
  • Rarity: Mil-Spec (Blue)
  • StatTrak™ Available: Yes
  • Float Range: 0.00 – 0.90
  • Release Date: January 20, 2022
  • Market Price: ~$0.05 – $2.50+
The MAC-10 | Ensnared CS2 skin on the on a still from the movie Alien (1979)
The MAC-10 | Ensnared / Poster for Alien (1979) (Steam / 20th Century)

The MAC-10 | Ensnared is a little different, as it could be a nod to pretty much any movie involving aliens or body horror, with its distinctive “pixie figures” that look like they’re trapped inside it, almost reaching out to touch you. It’s a masterful design from creator Toisac, and it rightly belongs to the “Dreams & Nightmares Collection”. We chose Alien (1979), revolving around a starship whose crew wakes up from their cryo-sleep capsules to answer a distress call from an alien ship and comes across a nest of alien eggs instead, because of the color green, that’s reminiscent of the iconic poster for Ridley Scott’s movie.

The skin itself is beautifully dark and eerie, and it’s also surprisingly affordable given how detailed it is. If you’d like to channel your inner Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) or reminisce about John Carpenter’s The Thing (1982) and other body horror classics, this skin is for you.

5. Desert Eagle | Printstream

Ghost in the Shell (1995)

  • Creator: JTPNZ
  • Collection: The Fracture Collection
  • Rarity: Covert (Red)
  • StatTrak™ Available: Yes
  • Float Range: 0.00 – 0.80
  • Release Date: August 6, 2020
  • Market Price: ~$30.00 – $115.00+
The Desert Eagle | Printstream CS2 skin on the on a still from the movie Ghost in the Shell
The Desert Eagle | Printstream / A still from Ghost in the Shell (Steam / Lionsgate)

This gorgeous, minimalistic skin is reminiscent of many futuristic movies, from The Matrix (1999), Tron: Legacy (2010) and even Birds Of Prey (2020) to the cult film we chose for this list: Ghost in the Shell (1995). This 1995 Japanese anime – which would inspire a 2007 movie – is about a cyborg federal agent named Motoko Kusanagi (Atsuko Tanaka) who’s trying to track down a criminal who hacks into the minds of cyborg-human hybrids and alters their identity. But the search leads Motoko to an existential quest, where she’ll eventually find herself pondering about her own identity and reality.

The skin is white with some shades of soft pink, and that perfectly reflects the visual identity of Mamoru Oshii’s anime. This pearlescent effect is what draws many gamers to the Desert Eagle | Printstream, but another fun feature is the shapes on it: it features “X”s and dots, and various shapes including a heart, which is features on every Printstream skin as a reference to – wait for it – Nirvana’s “Heart-Shaped Box”. This makes an already iconic skin even cooler, combining its futuristic, unique look with some rebellious rock n’ roll vibes.

These five skins are bound to inspire you to channel your favorite movie heroes and make your CS2 games even more cinematic. If you’re looking for more ideas, some lesser-known favorites include the AK-47 | Cartel, inspired by  Desperado (1995), and the XM1014 | Ziggy, which takes its name after the popular David Bowie song but also channels cult films like Velvet Goldmine. Have fun!
