Netflix’s acclaimed series The Crown is a historical show whose central figure is Queen Elizabeth II. The series’ creator is Peter Morgan, who also directed the film The Queen, and the first season aired in 2016. There are six seasons in total, depicting the lives of the royal family starting from Elizabeth and Philip’s wedding. Season 6, divided in part 1 and part 2, follows the life of Princess Diana and the aftermath of her death on William and Harry.
Part of what makes The Crown so special is that the cast changes as their characters age. This has given many fantastic actors the chance to shine. The Queen was played first by Claire Foy and then by Olivia Colman and Imelda Staunton. The rest of the cast includes Matt Smith, Vanessa Kirby, Matthew Goode, Emma Corrin, Gillian Anderson, Emerald Fennell, Josh O’Connor, Dominic West, and more.
