5 Films to Watch if You Liked ‘Wolfs’

Brad Pitt and George Clooney in Wolfs

Wolfs is out now on Apple TV+! The film marks a much-anticipated reunion of stars Brad Pitt and George Clooney, whom we haven’t seen together since the Ocean’s trilogy (2001-2007); this time, they’re in a movie that writer-director Jon Watts wrote specifically for them, and if you’re looking for more films to watch, you’ve come to the right place!

Wolf‘s premise is simple but very compelling: a woman (Amy Ryan’s Margaret) finds herself in a high-end hotel suite with a dead body to get rid of, and calls a stranger that was recommended by an acquaintance who she’s been told can do just that. A few minutes later, that man (George Clooney) gets to the hotel, ready to do his job, but another man (Brad Pitt) also shows up, not long after he’s arrived, with that same “particular set of skills”. To complicate matters even further, the dead man on the floor (Austin Abrams) is actually not dead after all, and he’s in desperate need of help. Which means that our two experienced fixers will have to do something they’ve never done before: team up to save the day.

If you watched Wolfs and you’re looking for more recommendations, you’ve come to the right place! We made a list of movies to check out if you’re looking for something to watch next, from other films with the same cast to action-packed comedies and movies about fixers! Check them out below, in no particular order!

1. Ocean’s Eleven (2001)

Steven Soderbergh

loud and clear reviews The 5 Best George Clooney Movies Ranked ranking Ocean’s Eleven
Ocean’s Eleven (Warner Bros. Pictures)

Let’s start with the obvious choice! If what draws you to Wolfs is the pairing of Brad Pitt and George Clooney as protagonists, then you should definitely check out the first movie where the two stars appeared together! On top of this, Ocean’s Eleven also happens to be one of the best heist films out there. The film is about a charming thief named Danny Ocean (George Clooney), who has just gotten out of prison when we first meet him, yet he’s already moved onto his next project. Which is an ambitious one indeed: He plans to rob a casino owner named Terry Benedict (Andy Garcia), who is about to host an event which, if everything goes well, will enable Danny to steal $160 million in one go.

But he’s not doing it alone. Just like the title promises, this is a film about Danny Ocean’s “Eleven”, meaning his best friend Rusty (Brad Pitt), an “investor” with a grudge named Saul (Carl Reiner), and a series of criminals they manage to recruit: Basher (Don Cheadle), Turk (Scott Caan), Virgil (Casey Affleck), Reuben (Elliott Gould), Frank (Bernie Mac), Yen (Shaobo Qin), Livingston (Eddie Jemison), and Linus (Matt Damon). And to make things even more complicated, the heist is personal for Danny, as Terry Benedict just-so-happens to be dating his ex-girlfriend (Julia Roberts).

When it comes to Brad Pitt movies, Ocean’s Eleven is one of the first films where his comedic talent really shines. His pairing with Clooney is part of the reason why the movie works, as you could just watch Danny and Rusty do nothing but chat for hours and you still wouldn’t be bored. On top of this, you have an immensely rewarding heist film and a fantastic cast of talented actors that you’ll recognize from other films.

2. Bullet Train (2022)

David Leitch

Two things make Bullet Train the perfect movie to check out if you’re looking for films to watch after Wolfs: Brad Pitt as the protagonist, and a deliciously convoluted, hilariously unexpected plot that somehow manages to connect its many characters to the same gangster. Bullet Train is one of those movies that will have your eyes glued to the screen for its entire screen time, as you’re introduced to many equally fascinating characters, all of which are on a mission, and try to figure out exactly what that mission is. David Leitch manages to keep things unpredictable until its very last shots, which means that for most of the film you’ll have no clue of where the movie is headed, but what’s even more incredible is that it also manages to be so much fun in every single scene.

Brad Pitt plays an assassin named Ladybug, who finds himself on the titular Bullet Train when the man who was meant to do the job bails out. Ladybug is at the end of his career as an assassin, but this seems like an easy enough task: all he has to do is find a briefcase and leave the train with it when it reaches its destination. What he doesn’t know is that four more assassins are on that same train, trying to do that exact same thing. That’s all we’ll tell you about it, as you should absolutely go into the movie knowing very little about it, but you’re in for a treat! Expect hilarious, well-choreographed scenes – one of them involving an iconic “Chekhov’s gun” water bottle! – fantastic performances, and a surprisingly strong ending that will stay with you for a long time. And if you like the film, don’t forget to check out David Leitch’s next film, The Fall Guy, which replicates the same formula and is also a great watch after Wolfs!

3. O Brother, Where Art Thou (2000)

Joel and Ethan Coen

O Brother, Where Art Thou?
O Brother, Where Art Thou? (Universal Pictures)

It’s time for a George Clooney movie! While many would recommend Michael Clayton for its connections to the world of crime, we think this Coen brothers gem would be more appropriate, as it contains two elements, beside Clooney, that you can also find in Wolfs: fantastic comedy, and a group of unlikely heroes teaming up for an unexpected journey. Those heroes are three escaped convicts: Everett (Clooney), Pete (John Turturro) and Delmar (Tim Blake Nelson). In the film, which is adapted from Homer’s “The Odyssey”, their search for a hidden treasure, while escaping from the law, leads them face to face with a series of eccentric characters, which all eventually results in them achieving fame and even recording a song.

O Brother, Where Art Thou? is considered by many to be Joel and Ethan Coen’s best film, and the reason for its success is the perfect combination of humor, action, and unpredictable twists, combined with a fantastic cast that gives it their all, and catchy tunes that will make the “Soggy Bottom Boys” – oh yes, that is their name! – your new favorite band. On top of this, this was one of the first movies to showcase Clooney’s comedic chops. Don’t miss it!

4. Hot Fuzz (2007)

Edgar Wright

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost try to catch a swan in the park in Hot Fuzz
Simon Pegg and Nick Frost in Hot Fuzz (Working Title / Focus Features)

The first British film on our list is one of Edgar Wright’s (Baby Driver) first movies, and also one of his best. At the center of it all are two cops: the overachieving Sergeant Angel (Simon Pegg), who has just been transferred from London to a remote English village against his will, and the easygoing PC Danny Butterman (Nick Frost), who is pretty much his exact opposite. The film sees Sergeant Angel off to a rocky start when he joins his new team, where the lack of rules and the general absence of crime irritates him and makes him reject any attempts from his colleagues and the town’s residents to befriend him. But Angel soon realizes that something is actually going on in the village, and it’s up to him and Danny – in true Bad Boys style – to save everyone.

Hot Fuzz is quite simply a hilarious film, filled to the brim with improbable developments, clever pop culture references and iconic quotes – and on top of this, it’s also action-packed and incredibly well-edited and scored. In short, it’s an Edgar Wright movie, and definitely one of the best films to watch if you’d like to explore his filmography! If you’ve never seen Simon Pegg and Nick Frost together on screen, make sure to check out the rest of the “Cornetto Trilogy”: Shaun of the Dead, and The World’s End.

5. The Nice Guys (2016)

Shane Black

The Nice Guys (Warner Bros. Pictures)

Movie fans have been campaigning for a sequel to The Nice Guys for years, and for good reason. Writer-director Shane Black managed to combine the perfect premise with the exact right cast, helmed by two actors who had never done comedy up till then, and who turned out to be amazing at it. Those two actors are Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe, and if you enjoyed watching Pitt and Clooney in Wolfs, wait till you witness these two in action. Here, they play a mob enforcer who works in a very specific niche, and a private investigator who thinks of himself as way more knowledgeable than what he actually is.

When Jackson Healy (Russell Crowe) and Holland March (Ryan Gosling) stumble upon each other, the former is investigating a missing girl case and the latter is looking into the possible disappearance of a porn star. Little did they know that their two cases are connected, and that, to solve them, they’ll have to team up and face some unexpected threats, all while keeping Holland March’s teenage daughter/wannabe detective (Angourie Rice) safe. But even this synopsis doesn’t do the film justice: The Nice Guys is absolutely hilarious from start to end, and we guarantee it’ll become one of your favorite movies.

The 5 films listed above are all fantastic films to watch if you’re looking for something similar to Wolfs! Each has something in common with Brad Pitt and George Clooney’s latest, from two or more characters teaming up to a blend of action, comedy, and crime, and a charismatic cast! Happy watching!
